Kidney Dialysis Lawyer

Dialysis patients face daily struggles simply managing their serious health conditions. As a result of the intense need for help with these problems, many new products, ideas for rehabilitation and even treatment techniques have continued to evolve and expand. Unfortunately, several of these innovations have led to problems, and each of them is described below.

Trasylol

Trasylol was actually a drug that was used to help patients undergoing heart surgery, as it was designed to limit the loss of blood. However, an enormous study showed that patients who used Trasylol for this purpose faced an unreasonably high risk of developing and suffering from kidney failure. Ultimately, in the fall of 2007, the FDA ordered a halt to the marketing of Trasylol until additional studies could be conducted.

Gadolinium

Gadolinium is an element, and it was recently discovered that if gadolinium is included in contrast agents for those who receive MRI's or MRA's, doctors will have a much easier time obtaining an accurate read and diagnosis of conditions as a result of these scans because the gadolinium-containing contrast agent made it that much easier. However, the FDA recently warned against the use of any sort of gadolinium injection by those with kidney problems, as those patients are unable to expel the substance, and it's long-term presence in the system can lead to serious injuries and even organ failure.

Ketek

Ketek was a drug that saw tremendous success after hitting the market in 2004, but it wasn't long before serious problems arose. Reports began to surface that linked the use of Ketek, which helped patients treat extreme cases of bacterial infections, with the development of liver failure. Ultimately, the FDA issued a public health advisory warning of these potential links, and lawsuits began to arise as a result and on behalf of seriously injured patients.
